As long as i remember, i recorded the show from the orchestra seats facing stage.

Comments: This was the first time at this "historic" venue and we were located in section
20, just off the floor. The sound from that location was loud and clear. The crowd around us was excited and decently behaved and the recording came out well for this comfortably cool saturday evening. A few differences from the 2010 Tour as Roger played an additional acoustic version of ABITW and he did a re-start on The Thin Ice after some initial equipment issues. Enjoy the recording folks.

Notes:
The sound is a bit below average, but not terrible. Roth points out a fight in the crowd during "Jamie's Cryin" and the band sorta loses its place after, but recovers quickly. He also makes fun of Valerie Bertenelli's bra size during "Everybody Wants Some!" but Ed must have been in on it as he concurs with Roth's assessment. Roth also stops "Girl Gone Bad" after someone throws something at him. This was a pretty small venue for the band, about 7,100 capacity.

This recording turned out excellent, clean and complete. Disruptions from the surrounding audience are minimal; an occasional scream at the end of a tune or talker during a quiet section, but nothing much to worry about. I was very happy with how it turned out. The show was awesome. See it if you can!

Notes by the taper
First AUD tape of the European tour? I think so. This is an extremely accurate reproduction of what it sounded like where I was. By which I mean... not amazing, but fine.

Front Row of the Pit so naturally there is some close range clapping and stuff around me. But nothing too bad.

I didn't use my Church Audio pre-amp because I, stupidly, forgot my 3.5mm cable. But I didn't need to use the Zoom H1's in-built pre-amps as the volume was loud enough. The only affect the lack of pre-amp could have had is that the mics may not have been powered enough, so they were easier to distort. However I don't think there is any of that distortion in the recording. Bruce's vocals sound a bit distorted at times, but that's what it sounded like
out of the PA to me.

No processing or EQ etc. Just a straight up levels normalise.

Not too much info in this info file as I'm a bit pressed for time, but I wanted to get it out there.

Notes:
The Flatlanders are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their first record with a summer tour and the release of a batch of demos recorded in Odessa, Texas, back then. Joe said the name of the record will be "The Odessa Tapes." This show at the Moody (where Austin City Limits is now taped) served as sort of a promo gig. There are a couple of early-band gems that made the gig for Ol' Mike: "Rose From The Mountain". from the first record, and "I Know You" from the 1972 live record. There's a house feedback squeal on "Hopes" and there were several mic/disc glitches that joeyjay had to edit out. Most are seamless, but there's a missing line in "The Highway Is My Home" - that had to come out, unfortunately. Other than that, the sound is pretty damn good, and so is the show. Go see The Flatlanders on tour this summer. As always, all thanks to Joe, Jimmie Dale, Butch and all the extended musical family for all the great nights of memories and tunes. Continued thanks to The Coin for the surrogate mics.

Taken from the web:
Before this release, several other bootleg DVDs had compiled 1960s Who footage, with varying degrees of success. It's difficult, however, to imagine a better, more comprehensive one than this two-DVD collection, which assembles almost four hours of live, mimed, promo, interview, and documentary clips from various sources. The image and sound quality are usually as good as, or better than, what's seen or heard on those previous compilations, and most of clips appear in the most complete form known to exist. There are a wealth of riches here, from relatively common (at least to the people who collect this sort of thing) items such as their 1965 Ready Steady Go and Richmond Jazz Festival appearances to some little-seen sequences such as their mimed June 1966 appearance on the Swedish Popside show; a live July 1966 London college gig, including a not-too-audible version of "C.C. Rider"; the Monterey Pop film outtake "Pictures of Lily"; live and interview footage from Helsinki, Finland, in May 1967; and promotional films for Tommy, linked by a few interview segments in which Pete Townshend explains the songs. There's even the U.S. promo film for "Substitute," in which they mimed the amended lyrics (omitting the reference to a black father) in the American 45 version. It doesn't gather every last scrap of 1960s Who footage: there's nothing from their Woodstock appearance, and their famous violent performance of "My Generation" on The Smothers Brothers in 1967 is missing the end bit where Townshend smashes Tommy Smothers' guitar. Some of the portions are obviously lifted from sources that are easily accessible via commercial releases such as The Kids Are Alright, Monterey Pop, and The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus, and no doubt some of the clips could have been presented in better condition if this was an authorized production. The likelihood of such a thorough authorized compilation seems distant, however, leaving the gap for bootlegs such as this to exploit. Despite those very minor shortcomings, it's an amazing document, and totals up to the most convincing evidence ever assembled as to the Who's mesmerizing power as a visual performance act.

Notes by the taper:
First night of the European Spectacular Spinning Songbook tour from Elvis Costello & his Imposters. A brilliant show from start to finish - Elvis was in fine form and the band were tight as always. I was eight row from the stage, dead centre and this one turned out pretty darn good. No anomalies other than the dude beside me who insisted on singing badly out of tune during some songs - he didn't do it too often but as you will hear he is out of tune.

Review from Bob's Boots:

This is a powerful performance captured sublimely by Rattlesnake. They have been shut down a few times, and it really is good to see them back with a handful of new releases. They are re-establishing themselves as a top act in providing incredible performances. What first hit me was the incredible spaced-out Cold Irons Bound. Werewolf Bob is howling his heart out above echoing guitar…It Ain't Me Babe is gorgeously re-invented, and the reconstruction reduces the audience to twinkles, giggles and coos… quite amazing! Bob is always searching for different ways to tell the same story. On Just like a Woman he invites the audience to participate, which strangely, they seem reluctant to do. Honest With Me is a relentless boogie/jam. However, it's the anarchic excursions Bob's vocals take which seem to annihilate time and space.... freeing language from its restraints of meaning and context to become just another layer of the music itself. Oh, its a wonderful performance overall. The lovely silk-screened discs and 8 page booklet of rare photos make it one to house in any growing collection.

The Artist:
Thomas Dolby is a rather unique and enigmatic character in the annals of popular music. Best known for his synth / dance anthems of the 80's: "Europa and The Pirate Twins", "Hyperactive" and certainly "She Blinded Me With Science", he is a person who is actually very difficult to categorize musically. Like his friend and icon, David Bowie, he embraces many styles and influences and defies conventional cateogrization. He deftly and somewhat effortlessly moves from synth-drenched classic New Wave numbers "Europa", " Submarines" and "Science" to the piano jazz of "Loaded Pistol", "The Flat Earth" and "My Brain Is Like A Sieve". The world beat mash-up "Spice Train" melts into the electronica techno of "Evil Twin Brother". The Parliament / Funkadelic (after all he was in the band for a brief period) inspired "Airhead" fits together with the American folk of "The Road To Reno" and "The Toad Lickers" with the BeauSoleil Cajun ballad of "I Love You Goodbye". Essentially what is on display here is an aural map of the world with great songwriting at it's heart. This fact was lost on me 25 years earlier when I witnessed him perform with his white funk band "The Lost Toy People" in 1987. Now, I can understand and appreciate the musical genius of this wacky scientist.

Performance Notes:
Thomas regailed us with several stories and anecdotes between numbers. Much of this was already covered six months earlier during his AMOTFC lecture tour. Unfortunately the 30 minutes of stories and the fact that he was performing two sets this evening came at the expense of at least four songs for the early crowd. "Commercial Break Up", "Field Work" Hyperactive" and "Silk Pyjamas" sadly are not present in this performance. Having to be at work the next day at 6 A.M. prevented me from attending the second performance. What is here is nothing short of a stellar performance by some top-notch musicians. Represented here are two of Dolby's extraordinary guitarists: Kevin Armstrong and Larry Treadwell. Thomas shows us his chops on the Billie Holliday inspired "Love Is A Loaded Pistol" performing the song on an upright nearly as old as the Coronet Theater.

Recording Notes:
I was pretty fortunate to be seat assigned to the far left two rows back. So what you have here is essentially a left monitor "stack tape" (hence the left channel vocal dominance). Otherwise there would be more audience than music. A pretty solid recording throughout, although levels seemed to be all over the place. Quieter songs were boosted by approx +3dB. I resisted the urge to normalize due to the louder applause segments. Applause was meticuously detenuated by -3 to -6db in order to balance levels without sacrificing dynamic range. There are some minor glitches to the audience levels. This does not really distract from the overall listening enjoyment, IMHO.

CD Burning:
For the full show I would recommend splitting after Track 12. The appplause goes to -60 dB. Also, you may consider dropping the "stories" featured in quotes and burning to a single disc.
