Rush on a saturday night in Anaheim, California. We were in section 225, few rows off the floor, even with the sound board. Had some really nice sound from this location. The crowd around us was pretty well behaved (most figured out we were recording) and the recording reflect this. The limiter on the recording controlled the couple of stage explosions during the show really well.

live and direct FM radio broadcast by "Radio2 Live", Radio2 RAI [second channel of italian national radio] from Piazza Napoleone, Lucca (Italy) on thusday 21 July 2011, 21:35 hours

WARNING: in italian radio customes the DJ speaks a lot in-between songs. And I mean a lot.. His/Her purpose is to introduce songs with bits of bio and translate what the artists say, or to describe to radio listeners what's happening on stage. It may gets VERY annoying, and trust me it does, thus we might consider this recording ONLY FOR COMPLETISTS. But the songs, the actual music, are (usually) not spoken over in the middle of them. It has to be noted that italian djs are on the whole adviced to talk that much by the same record companies to prevent bootlegging.

A total of 5 sources have been used for this merge; The Sbd source from "Stages", the Sbd source from the "Jimi Hendrix At The Atlanta Pop Festival" VHS, the Stereo Aud source, the Sbd Space mix, plus a non-Space mix Sbd version of "Message To Love"?- The "Stages" and VHS soundboards have fake audience noise loops - including booing loops throughout the concert. These have all been deleted in this merge.?- Only "Red House", "All Along The Watchtower" and "Hey Joe" are taken from the VHS video.?- The Audience recording contains the most accurate atmosphere of the actual concert and thus the merge has been built around it.?- Only the end of "Freedom", "Foxy Lady" and the beginning of "Purple Haze" are missing on the Aud source.?- The Space mix has no fake audience noises but has ugly reverb added to it (hence 'space' mix). This source has been used as 'in between song banter' filler - especially on the parts not recorded by the audience tape - and to fill the gaps left due to the deletion of the 'fake audience noises'.?- The featured version of "Message to Love" is the only available Sbd version without echo, and is actually in itself a merge.?- This 3 source merge runs the Aud Source, the Sbd source and the Space mix simultaneously from "Message To Love" to the end.?- All tracks prior to "Message To Love" are identical to
those featured in version 1.0 of this merge.

This was an excellent show and Joe seems to be energentic despite his problems at the hotel (he mentions
this after Midnight Blues). All in all a very good night.

Notes by the taper

My Sony ECM-DS70P appears to have died, so I used the built in mics on the Zoom and was pleasantly surprised. The sound in the theater
was a little bassy and very low on high end. I eq'd a little high end into the mix and it sounds very nice. The seat next to me was empty, so I stuck my coat on the chair and the zoom on top of the coat. Crowd was nice and quiet during the music.

Recorded in the 7th row about 15 feet house left of center. Powers Auditorium is an old majestic theater that appears to have been restored fairly recently and is the home to the Youngstown

Linda Ronstadt - 1979-03-02/03 - Tokyo, JP (SBD/FLAC)

1st generation > Nakamichi CR 5A (Azimuth Adjusted) > MacBook Pro > Audacity 1.3.11 > Peak Pro XT 5.2 (volume smoothing/edit) > xACT 1.71 > Flac

Transferred and uploaded by mjk5510 (October 2012)

This show has circulated under the following date: January 27, February 27,

February 28, February 1979 and March 1979.

This transfer comes from my 1st generation cassette I traded for in the

early-mid 80's via a Japanese trader. The date written on the tape sent to me
was 1979-03-02, 03-03.

I have found the following dates for the Japanese leg of the 1979 tour:

2/27/79 Budokan Hall, Tokyo, Japan
3/1/79 Kanagawa-Kenmin Hall, Kanagawa, Japan
3/2/79 Budokan Hall, Tokyo, Japan
3/3/79 Budokan Hall, Tokyo, Japan
3/5/79 Festival Hall, Osaka, Japan

I have a CDR copy of the show I traded for at some point dated February 28 but

it has a small amount of dialogue edited out and has some very hard/sloppy edits
as well as an overall harshness to the sound.

It appears to be unconfirmed if this show came from only the March 3rd show or the March 2nd and 3rd show. I have listed it as March 2nd and 3rd due to the tape I received from the master.

There appear to be multiple versions circulating so hopefully this verified

lineage version will be an upgrade for some or a first copy for others who may
have missed any past versions.
I have not heard all versions circulating but this is excellent quality with
just a small touch of hiss between songs, it has a well balanced rich sound…

Linda really shines throughout as does her always excellent band, I'm not sure I've heard her in better voice or with this much passion.

Great set, great show...

Tape story:

The venue is an amazing square (the central square of Modena listed since 1997 as UNESCO World Heritage Property).
Strangely the concert was confirmed in this old square after the Emilia earthquake (differently from Radiohead in Bologna and Kasabian in Ferrara that were moved from the relevant central squares).
I have located myself in front of the left stack, about 15 m from the stage.
Not more people were around me and also very quiet.
The sound is extremely very good. Imho one of the best recordings I have ever done.

What about the show?

It was my fourth Simple Minds concert (the previous were in Milan 1984, Reggio Emilia 1986 and again Milan February 2012... 26 years later!!!) and I enjoyed a lot.
Of course I would have preferred more to attend a 5x5 full set than the proposed 5x5 + hits set since I still remember the 28th February 2012 concert as a very special event.
The band appeared in very good form and Jim Kerr spoke more in Italian than English
(with a very special appreciation of the Italian ice-cream that someone was eating in a cafè/restaurant in front of the stage during "Don't You (Forget About Me)").

Technical notes:

- The total running time of the recording was 02:00:17; I have cut the first 7:50 min and the last 1:30 min (pre-recorded music) reducing the master to 1:50:57
- I have amplified the whole recording (+6.0 dB on the left channel, +8.0 dB on the right channel) and faded-out the last 10 secs
- If you burn to audio CD, you will need 2 CDs (CD1: 1-16; CD2: 17-21)

2. Adjust frequencies/EQ in each source using dynamic filters where needed.
3. Correct/Match speed and pitch of each. comparing to references
4. Complete each source by using the other to patch missing sections.
5. Synchronize sources and blend to create stereo image.
6. Correct phasing.
7. Center sound and focus stereo image.
8. Adjust dynamics and correct peak suppressions
9. Track as continuous show, as performed.

A few mistakes are made by Steve Howe during The Ancient. Some whistles and yells can be heard in each source suggesting that the tapers were not too far from each other.

A note from Balrog:
The first time I tried to create a two-source stereo recording from the audience was in the early 1980s, when I had separate recordings of a Moody Blues show made from opposite sides of the upper loge in Boston Garden. I couldn't keep it synchronized for more than a few seconds at a time but the stereo image I heard in my headphones was incredible. I felt like my head was the size of Boston Garden and I could hear things that no single person could hear from anywhere in the venue.

This two-source stereo recording from the same location doesn't have as vast a stereo image but there's enough to make it much more enjoyable than either source alone. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts and I want to thank the "PRRP Guy" for having the skills and patience to make it possible. This upload brings new life to a tour that has never been known for excellent audience recordings. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Just to avoid any possible confusion, a two-source stereo recording is synchronized in the same manner as a matrix recording but the channels are discrete rather than left overlaid on left and right overlaid on right.

I had not seen this wonderful, all-star band since the late 80's, and wondered how they would sound 20+ years later. All I can say is WOW!! This was easily one of the top 5 shows I have experienced this year. The band performed their debut album in it's entirety tonight, much to my delight. The crowd was enthusiastic, but respectful. An occasional woowoo guy, and whistle here and there, but does not detract from this performance/recording. The venue's mix was great, and John's voice is strong as ever. The venue has these strange inflatable balloons on the ceiling and the fans used to keep them inflated can be heard during the really quiet parts, strange little buzz. Other than that is raw, pure, and highly crankable!! I will never forget this evening!!

This must be one of the first DSD bootleg around, and it's a surprisingly clear audience. DSD is a (not so) recent hi definition audio format used for production, and now available also for portable recorders. The original DFF files are amazing, but I am not sure that a lot of people could be able to play them through a DSD DAC. If there is enough request I may consider to seed the originals.

The first stop was supposed to be the Outremont Theatre in Montreal, but that concert was cancelled because Miles decided to attend the heavyweight championship bout between George Foreman en Joe Frazier. Tape story:
The venue is at the main Milan horse track (thoroughbred horse racing) near San Siro stadium.
I have located myself in front of the right stack, about 20 m from the stage.
Many people were around me and, unfortunately, some of them used Stone Roses' Reunion Tour music as a background for their conversation.
Anyway the sound is good-to-very good, with only occasional screaming and clapping always in time with music.

What about the show?
It was my first The Stone Roses concert and I enjoyed a lot, but I was disappointed with its short duration.
"Something's Burning", for example, even if still listed in available setlist was definitely not played.
The gig was part of the first edition of a new Milan summer festival (City Sound) held at the Ippodromo del Galoppo.
The setlist is mainly based on the first album and related stuff. Only 2 songs from Second Coming.
"Fools Gold" itself is worth the ticket price.

Technical notes:
- The total running time of the recording was 1:28:10; I have cut the first 2:40 mins (The Supremes' Stoned Love used as intro music) and the last useless 40 secs reducing the master to 1:24:49
- I have amplified the whole recording (+7.0 dB on the left channel, +11.0 dB on the right channel), faded-in and faded-out the first and last 10 secs
- If you burn to audio CD, you will need 2 CDs (CD1: 01-08; CD2: 09-15)

another great show by The Who, definitely worth the money.... not too many glitches tonight, but Rogers mic did cut out briefly during "Doctor Jimmy", causing him great consternation, but it apparently was back on when he threw it to the floor, because you'll hear it thump as it hits the ground.... the older guy next to me sat down during almost the whole show due to back problems, but "Pinball Wizard" got him on his feet clapping and you'll hear him singing off-key during almost the whole song....

Here is a fantastic soundboard recording from the 94 tour. The quality exceeds that of Irvine '94 as that show is lacking in the bottom-end department. This one more than makes up for it! Indeed, we have a great stereo spread and a crystalline, transparent capture -- this may be the best sounding Steely Dan ROIO ever. It is certainly in the upper echelon. Plus, we have a great backing band and an even better setlist. Where did it come from? Well, this, along with some of the other more recent seeds have been circulating overseas. We've managed to obtain some of the silvers as you've seen. They are not cheap. This 2 disc set set me back over $100, personally. So long as the skeevy sellers are selling, we'll be freely sharing until everything is tapped! And as of the date of this writing, the well is far from dry. Enjoy.

***Neonknight's Notes***
Grolsch kindly assisted us with the background to this recording. Copenhagen '67 was taped by a local musician called Carsten V. Michael K borrowed his master and made a copy. Marbal's cassette is likely in turn to have been copied from a 7.5 ips open reel transfer of Michael K's reel. There are no digital clones from the master or first gen Michael K reel but both still exist and remain in the hands of the owners. Perhaps we can look forward to one or both of them surfacing one day.

A 3rd gen reel from the collection of the late Bernard White is often considered to be the best source for this concert. A friend has Bernard's reel and a 2001 transfer was sent to Eskimospy for use by Harvested in August 2005 for their 'What Syd Wants' release. The lineage for Bernard's reel went something like Carsten V > Michael K > UK collector > Bernard in the mid 1970s.

Marbal's 3rd gen cassette has been transferred before by other collectors and they were not able to bring out the best in the recording. Marbal's copy, like his Rotterdam tape, is much cleaner with a tighter top end, and a fuller, more natural sound when compared to Bernard's.

Listen carefully to Littlepieces' re-master and you you can distinguish each instrument and follow it if you care to. You will also hear subtle details such as the clink of a glass at 11.39 and Reaction in G being counted in, that you probably will have not noticed before. I believe it's also possible to appreciate the ambience of the venue.

There is no getting away from the fact that the quality of this recording varies. However, Littlepieces has done an excellent job smoothing the imperfections out on the LPP version, particularly the many distortions that often contribute to burying the sound.

This is a strong, loud performance by the band which was sometimes too much for Carsten V's recorder to cope with. Listen out for Matilda Mother, which reminds me of the Underground Scene Special UFO version, and a lively Scream Thy Last Scream. Thank you Marbal for entrusting me with your tape!

***Littlepieces' Mastering Notes for - Marbal's Copenhagen '67 Tape - Speed Corrected Only version***
All torrented unprocessed sources for this recording seem to share the same SQ and level fluctuations. The fact that the two lowest gen torrented sources, BWs 3rd gen reel and Marbal's 3rd gen cassette, have these as well, seems to indicate they are also on the 2nd gen sources they were copied from.

The SQ is dark and the levels change for over a minute and slowly improves til about 1:20m when it becomes fairly stable until shortly after 12 minutes. From here a subtle increase in the hiss begins with a slowly decreasing upper half. This continues with some periods of improvement until eventually it becomes pronounced and by the time it reaches AD, the recording has become much weaker. The level changes also become more frequent beginning near the end of 'One in A Million'. There are many segments containing distortions and the frequency and intensity of these increase as the recording progresses. These give the impression that the recorder had his levels too high at times or his microphone was overwhelmed. As I said, all the mentioned artifacts are in all torrented unprocessed sources.

This recording was marked as Dolby encoded but we transferred it without Dolby. Transferring a Dolby encoded recording without decoding the Dolby on playback is done often when playing the tape back on a different deck than that which it was encoded. The differences in decks often results in the decoding profile varying from the original encoding creating a poor result. Though this recording did not have its Dolby decoded, the expected boost in the higher frequencies are not near as apparent as usual.

Marbal's cassette is a mono recording that was dubbed with a stereo deck into a two channel recording. Due to the previous transfers with less than perfect head alignment, it has a minor phase shift that is generally from 2-5 samples. The output level of each channel is similar most of the time and after about 12m I could a hear a bit more high end in the left channel.

The speed was slow and was adjusted from 3.8% to 4.5%.

*Other than adjusting the speed, no other changes were made to the 'Speed Corrected Only' version.*

***Littlepieces' Mastering Notes for - Marbal's Copenhagen '67 Tape - LPP version***

To accompany the 'Speed Corrected Only' version I have produced a LPP version in an attempt to provide a copy with less interference from artifacts, more detail, and more overall SQ continuity.

After testing each channel by itself and with the channels manually aligned, I decided to use only the left channel for approximately the 1st minute and then retain both channels and manually align through Arnold Layne, and use only the left channel from that point until the end of the recording. Using only the left channel should provide a bit more detail as the recording quality lessens after AL by including more high end and improved phasing.

The most time consuming part of this project was definitely the manual spectral cleaning. I removed many many of the usual tics, pops, bumps, etc, but more importantly I was able to remove most of the distortions that interfered with the recording.

I utilized and varied moderate noise reduction settings working mostly above 8kHz - 10khZ and only slightly lower on some audience sections while being diligent not to encroach on the harmonics. I could have worked the entire spectrum and squeezed most of the hiss out, but I generally don't like what this does to the nature of the sound. As with Marbal's Rotterdam recording, I think more aggressive NR, among other things, would have eliminated a sense of the acoustics of the small venue they are playing in.

As with Rotterdam, the EQ increases I used were applied to only the upper half which as the recording progresses and weakens is even more buried than Rotterdam. The quality of this source and transfer allowed me to use an increasingly aggressive EQ profile and lessen the degree of difference between the best and worst parts of the recording. The EQ curve was adjusted at times throughout the recording but mostly did not exceed ~8kHz. In addition I used a multiband enhancer to increase the bass output by reducing the base width (mono) in the lower portion of the low end and increasing the gain when it was left channel only.

There were many micro drop outs/downs, mostly ~20ms, and I either removed a short piece of damage or was able to use the other channel to repair the damaged segment. A few minor ones still remain as does some very short pieces of tape damage.

I selectively reduced some low frequency hums during the audience/tuning segments and near the end of AD. These seem to be present and prominent in all unprocessed sources.

Hopefully these changes allow a listener to progress through the recording without becoming so distracted by the artifacts and SQ and level changes. I think this rendition of Reaction In G is the best I've really cooks after a few minutes. And I love the way One in A Million hits so hard..........I have a new appreciation for this track.
