Just back from the cruise.... WOW. Lineup: Yes, Steve Hackett, Carl Palmer, Ambrosia, Glass Hammer, Nektar, Zebra and IO Earth. (Tangerine Dream cancelled several months ago; Saga cancelled at the last minute due to a death in the family.) Most of the acts played two shows plus there were meet-and-greets and Q&A sessions. Roger Dean did a fantastic presentation. Venues included the large (around 1,500 capacity?) ship theater in addition to a stage set up outside on the deck by the pool. Mixed in with all the music related activities were two stops in Georgetown (Grand Cayman) and Ocho Rios (Jamaica).

For me the highlight of the cruise came on the last day when Hackett and his band (Genesis Revisited) played the pool stage. John Wetton was a surprise guest, coming onstage to sing lead vocal on Afterglow. What an amazing moment.

Anyway back to Yes...
The setlist for night #1 was Close To The Edge, Going For The One, then Starship Trooper. The ship was really rocking due to heavy seas that evening... Steve's slide guitar (on wheels) was rolling back and forth and he had to catch it a few times! He quipped it was like playing "on the back of a horse." Night #2 was a little calmer. Setlist was Close To The Edge (again) and The Yes Album followed by Roundabout.

Originally I was not going to do any recording/filming intending it to be a pure vacation however I succumbed to recording this show and the first UK show. No I didn't film anything except Steve and Jon Davison's acoustic Leaves of Green and Steve's performance of Mood For A Day, both done at the conclusion of the Yes Q&A session.
