I wonder beforehand if this is, "just another joint" for Bob. Does the historical baggage of his last time around at the RAH in 1966 even register. It was, of course, a static setlist back then too, but unlike then, nobody is complaining. Large parts of tonights show were as good as any Dylan performance i've ever witnessed with the second half of the set, possibly the best. How could all this be possible?, i asked myself after a jaw dropping, age defying "Long and Wasted Years". The answer , as always, is simple it's Bob Dylan.

Black Sabbath at a Sold Out Forum in Copenhagen, infront of 10.000 fans. The band were brilliant and Ozzy were not so good, he have had better days! I recorded this about 10 meter or so infront of the left PA-speakers and as it was sold-out, people were close together, so you will get some talk, screaming and other things, that most of them are more or less better than this stuff Ozzy did.

Long in the tooth, blind and somewhat frail, Johnny showed the packed house at the Tangier that he's still got "it". Never leaving his stool, this national treasure tore through a 70 minute set giving the people what they wanted.... straight up rock and blues at an ear blistering volume.

One of the best, and most popular Led Zeppelin shows of not only the 1975 U.S tour, but of their careers.
This show is considered to be the "turning point" of the U.S 75 tour, the time when the band shake of their ailments (Plant was suffering from the flu, and Jimmy had injured his finger) and start to play at their best again.

Review about this performance from
"A great show! It may have been a blizzard outside but the Garden was rocking this night!
"We came four blocks in the snow to get here ... you realise that? People were calling me on the telephone today and saying 'Is it gonna be on?' For a minute I was wondering about my anatomy, then I realised there was some discrepancy about the weather. Isn't it good though that it snows? Doesn't it change the vibe of the city? I think it's great!"
The band is in excellent form and delivers a great show.
Robert sounds good and strong, Jonesy and Bonzo are amazing as always, and Jimmy is incendiary tonight, especially at the end of Sick Again.
He extends the solo in Over The Hills And Far Away to an incredible length and soars. No Quarter is dedicated to Jones that "...made Monthy Python's Flying Circus a flop in New York" tonight and his imppecably clean fingernails.
Moby Dick is like a hurricane and Dazed And Confused just blows everybody out to the cosmic level! A bunch of heavy solid encores with an excellent Heartbreaker with some lyrics of Elvis Presley's That's Alright Mama thrown in closing this amazing eveing.
This is definitely a triumph for the entire band and, not only a strong concert but also probably the best from the 1975 US Tour.
"Ladies and gentlemen of New York ... you're too much ... and we ain't so bad ourselves!" and the show was over.

The goal of this project:
Ever since the discovery of this soundboard tape, numerous releases of it have surfaced.
Soundboard remasters (both boot label and fan made), Soundboard + Audience recording merges, Soundboard + Audience Recording Matrixes ("4 Blocks In The Snow") were released, some are definate upgrades, and some were quite disappointing, but alot of people threw their hats into the ring and put their spin on this show, trying to cover it from all spectrums and angles, and corner the market on it.
We thought about this when we decided to work on this recording, and we decided to just try and have fun working on this tape, put our spin on it, and try and breathe some new life into it.
Originally we thought about working on the audience tapes of this show instead of releasing another soundboard remaster because we actually prefer audience recordings to soundboards most of the time.
A soundboard can be as good, and as different as an audience recording, but alot of them do suffer from being quite flat and stale sounding.
There were traces of the audience on this tape, but they could've been brought out just a little more, so we've tried to bring out the audience for the listener, and give them a sense of the venue and live concert experience.

In regards to the title:

We had the title idea "Physical Riffiti" kicking around for sometime, I don't rememeber how we exactly came up with it, but we thought it sounded clever, and we were just waiting for the right show to use it, and this one seemed right because it's very heavy on guitar work and riffing from Jimmy.

Some of our readers may recall a release from several years ago titled "Rehearsal Tales", a single CD containing a partial show from Quebec, April 18, 1979. Although the track listing had a couple of errors, the music contained on that disc represented the finest quality available of any yes concert on bootleg disc. In fact, it rivaled any official release in range, balance, and performance. The original release was very limited in numbers and it wasn't long before some of the bigger bootleg companies began making their own copies of this disc.

As the story goes, Yes was recording many of their 1979 shows on a mobile multi-track studio for release of an official live set to celebrate the groups ten year anniversary. The project was even announced to the press and then scrapped. Somehow (you know how these things happen!) a stereo mix-down from the quebec show found its way into the hands of a collector who unwittingly traded it to a bootlegger. Of course, as usually happens with bootlegs of outstanding quality, the bootlegger himself was bootlegged (at least 3 different times). All versions of this single disc were worth picking up, as little was lost in the transition from one CD to the next.

That is until now. Dynamite Studio, a Japanese outfit with reasonably good circulation in the US has finally released the complete show, making all the previously available single CD versions obsolete.

This double CD is nearly flawless! I say nearly because there is one minor edit towards the end of "Starship Trooper" which also appeared on the "Rehearsal Tales" disc. This distortion is said to be on the original master tape, and indeed it seems that is probably the case. The highs on this CD don't get any higher. The bottom end will rattle your walls, but, save for the mentioned segment, they will rattle your walls with perfect clarity. This set HAS to rate in the top 10 boots of all time. You can even hear the whale songs that Yes used between songs, for goodness sake. The audience is almost invisible in the mix. The ICE newsletter has occasionally coined the phrase "bootleg hall of fame" in their writings. If I had the opportunity to make my nominations for this mythical establishment, this would rank right up there with Led Zeppelin's "Jennings Farm Blues" and the Who's "From Lifehouse To Leeds" in importance. And it would take a back seat to no one in terms of sound quality.

These reels were lent to me by Bill B. to transfer.

Bill B's notes:
D.F. and I would coach the Seattle Kingdome video director (N.W.) on songs to be played at upcoming major shows. Basically he was "studying up" on song placement and solos to be expected. Having worked at both the Superdome and in Cleveland, N.W. had friends at other venues. He simply asked a friend working the show in Cleveland to get him a copy of the show and fire it off to us in Seattle. The guy brought in his home deck, walked up to the board, and being on the crew they plugged him in. Just that simple. These reels are a direct copy of the master cassettes done in the early 80’s on a brand new Akai GX-77 reel deck using Maxell XLII tape at 7.5 ips and the rare EE equalization that the tape required. I personally have a better trust in this source than I do in the actual masters now. The masters still exist, but they aren’t going in the mail, and after so many years, I just think that 7.5 ips quarter inch reels are the best way to go. They may never have been played before Weedwacker’s efforts. I kept a second “play” copy on Maxell UD reels for listening. This source is pristine, not one of the bootleg versions, not off crude cassette copies from me in the 80’s. This is the real deal. Thank you Weedwacker for stepping up to make this happen, you and Darrell, and NW, and whoever the guy was that plugged in.

The best 2 concerts with Bob I've been to in at least ten years ! My goal was to film, but the security crossed my seat every 5min. So I picked up my "Microtrack" and recorded the whole concert. Sitting in the front of the balcony and because of security I had to hold the recorder down. This is "not" my best recording but its nice and clean sound !

GOOD ROCKIN' TONIGHT (2.46) / BADLANDS (4.16) / SPIRIT IN THE NIGHT (6.46) / DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN (3.47) / HEARTBREAK HOTEL (2.09) / FACTORY (2.13) / THE PROMISED LAND (4.47) / PROVE IT ALL NIGHT (9.56) / RACING IN THE STREET / THUNDER ROAD (fades in, 4.41) / JUNGLELAND (8.57) / RAVE ON (with Gary Busey) (1.49) / THE FEVER (7.33) / SWEET LITTLE SIXTEEN (3.33) / SHERRY DARLING (3.25) / 4TH OF JULY, ASBURY PARK (SANDY) (5.55) / MONA - SHE'S THE ONE (11.40) / GROWIN' UP (start cut, 3.30) / BACKSTREETS (10.27) / ROSALITA (COME OUT TONIGHT) (8.30) / BORN TO RUN (4.28) / BECAUSE THE NIGHT (6.16) / QUARTER TO THREE (cut, 4.26)

Incomplete soundboard recording released on CD 'The Jersey Devil' (Golden Stars) and also in improved quality from a soundboard tape which belonged to Ed Sciaky. Audience recording also exists. 'How Sweet It Is' (Fanatic) is a composite of the two former sources, in an attempt to construct the best sounding, most complete recording. "Good Rockin' Tonight" is played for the first time as well as "The Fever" once again. "Prove It All Night" fades out at the end, "Racing In The Street" is missing from the soundboard, but confirmed as played via the audience tape. "Thunder Road" fades in, "Growin' Up" is edited and "Quarter To Three" fades out. The recording of "Prove It All Night" found on The Jersey Devil is a fake, actually sourced from a completely different show. Gary Busey guests again on "Rave On". "Growin' Up" includes the story of Bruce meeting Clarence. "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)" includes the "Come A Little Bit Closer" intro. "Quarter To Three" includes "Oh, What A Night" in the midsection.

This is a re-tracked edition of the [Estebanf] 2006-05-12 Hammerstein audio that exists as part of the 2006 All Shows torrent. I made no edits to sound volume or anything like that. I just re-tracked the songs. The original text file is included in this torrent, I have renamed it to "Info-original [estebanf].txt"

On the original files there seemed to be a blip between Chinese Democracy and TWAT. It's right as Axl responds to Tommy's 'I'm having a really good fucking time, are you?' and Axl goes 'You have no idea how much, you know wh-' then it blips to TWAT. I made no changes to these files other than the track tags. On the NYCBITCH dvd there is no cut on the audio, but it's 192 CBR. I am downloading the GNROSAS DVD and will compare to these FLACs, but I assume this is a problem with the GNROSAS copy. If I can get a better rip of the GNROSAS DVD myself, I will do so at a later point. No music is lost in the blip, so it's not a HUGE deal.

I chose to leave the intro to November Rain attached and not even call it a "piano solo" - it's just under 30 seconds long and really just a NR intro and not a solo.

The Bumblefoot intro to Nightrain, at the end of his 2nd solo, was a tough call to make. I decided to leave it attached to the start of the song for two reasons. 1) There seems to be a slight blip, or duplication, of guitar noise at the end of Bumble's solo track and the start of the Nightrain track. This was not due to my re-cutting the solo from the end of IRS, but was an original sound on the start of Nightrain. 2) Bumble is the FUCKING MAN! The entire band is extremely under appreciated during this whole show and this was BF's first gig. We'd be lucky to hear a little improv like that during these 2012 shows!
