Clementine Jam (false start, amp dies)

It has been said that fan-base hater and all-around loser Todd Rundgren (getting used to oblivion over there, Toddy boy?) went to the Guinness Book Of Records in order to secure the spot for the longest-playing vinyl album. Well, I'm happy to say he's been surpassed... by a bootleg. Sweet justice, it's DA DEAD! Three of the four sides here top 41 minutes. Each that is, giving new meaning to the words "Long Playing Record". You will need to make extra space for this one. In fact, you might want to use a separate CD for each side. More on that in a moment.

First of all I want to thank Lossless Legs member Andy1099 for shipping me these LPs all the way across the pond. I've been wanting to hear them for the longest time; you will also really like this music even if you don't normally care for the Dead. This album is labeled "Mickey Hart And The Heart Beats (Grateful Dead) Living On The Edge 1968 California". It consists of two different sets from when the Dead were very young. The sound quality is amazingly good considering the length of the record sides. Lots and lots of jamming here, so much in fact that this two-record set is mostly instrumental. Many thanks to LL member fangedesire for the following information, as well as the sources and correct track information: There are no commercial releases at all from these sets of music. The October 8th portion appears to be an upgrade from the commonly-available source material.

So with all of that in mind and due to the extreme length of this album as a whole, I've given each side its own directory folder and have only generally broken the songs up. Original cover art for the lps courtesy of LL member marcap.

Comments from oneverybootleg.nl:
This is the real San Antonio recording in contrary to all other bootlegs that are called "San Antonio" and are actually featuring the Houston 1985 recording.
Amazing soundboard recording! Taken from the bootleg "Secrets in the closet". When I bought this bootleg, I was almost sure that it would be just another copy of the famous Houston show from 17th August 1985. But to my big surprise, it sounded a bit different and I could not directly figure out from which recording date this recording was. The back cover of the CD said it was recorded in San Antonio, 16th August 1985. But since I never heard that recording before, I just could not believe it. And then, at the beginning of Walk of life, it is Mark Knopfler himself who is revealing the mystery: "This is where San Antonio is doing the walk, alright." And, at the end of Brothers in arms Mark says: "Thank you San Antonio, thank you!". Amazing! This is the real San Antonio recording in contrary to all other bootlegs that are called "San Antonio" and are actually featuring the Houston recording. For those who still have any doubt, I have attached a small MP3-sample here. Great sound, great versions and complete show!

The Guy Who Originally Uploaded This Torrent Mentioned This Was From  Master Tape... Waow ! Listening To The '87 Recordings Make Us Realize This Tour Was A Great One, Although A Lot Criticized Back Then... And It'S Really A Shame That Bowie Didn'T Use Anymore Any Track From The "Never Let Me Down"Album On The Following Tours ... A Great Show This One Sure Is, With A Great Italian Atmosphere, As Usual... As It'S The Beginning Of The Tour, The Setlist Still Has "New York'S In Love" But It Is Sung Here For The Last Time.

The band sounded amazing and the recording came out pretty good for the most part. Some talkers can be heard here and there between the songs and during some quiet parts. I arrived just in time to start recording but was not fully prepared and I started to record without mics, then I plugged mics in, so for the first minute or so of the first song the sound is a little uneven. Also, the mics came out before End of the Beginning and I noticed that at the end of Fairies Wear Boots so these 2 songs came out louder and with more bass. I adjusted the levels in Goldwave a little bit, all in all it is not too bad. Ozzy sounded pretty decent for the most part imo.

Notes: Here's a really good show worthy of your collection, for a couple of reasons. One, Joe brought old friend Joel along for this "duo" gig ... it was good to see/hear them together again in Big D. Secondly, Joe was coming off "a rough couple of weeks" that Ol' Mike has understood to include personal loss. Live music, the great healer. The setlist leaned heavily on West Texas touchstones. Though we've heard these tunes scores of times, some seemed to carry more weight this night. Ol' Mike would even say Joe's spirit was rallied by the cathartic edge inherent in some songs and by the enthusiastic love from the crowd. Give a close listen as he sings "Live Forever" ... Joe's voice occasionally catching, or trailing off as he turns his head away from the mic (and crowd). Well, imagined or not, that gave Ol' Mike the chills - that's his story and he's sticking to it. Sound is great, especially through headphones. Of course, thanks go to Joe (and Joel) for all those golden nights of music and memories for us. Also kudos to Dallas live music icon Poor David for bringing in all the quality artists for lo these many decades, including Joe every year since 1984, in an intimate venue. Continued thanks to The Coin for the now-retired surrogate mics and to D. Ortiz (working forwardly to see his way off the DL) for the current loaners.

Also there is an extra bonus track at the end of disc two which is an Ian Anderson interview origin's unknown but it's not part of the actual show lasts approx 20mins I have decided to leave it in as it was part of the torrent you decide if you want it or not.

Kevin Ayers, John Cale, Eno & Nico - 1974-06-01 - The Outtakes (STU/FLAC)

(Studio FLAC)

Kevin Ayers, John Cale, Eno, Nico
June 1, 1974 - The Outtakes

Remastered version

What I did : remove an awful lot of hiss / equalization / transition between tracks to make it a seamless show / design the cover art

This is by far the best version available (if you except the extracts that were officially released and that I have removed here).

"Baby's on fire" was played twice during this show : in the beginning and as the last encore. The encore has been officially released, but without its extra percussive introduction. Here I have kept the introduction and made it followed by the song as it was played in the beginning of the show.

Title: Happy Times
Label: Wiston Remaster
Atrwork Included.

Source and Remastering notes: Audience - I have 2 copies of the same source. Alleged 1stGen>DAT and 2ndGen>DAT. 2ndGen sounded alot better so it was used. However it contained a small cut during Song Remains the Same. I used the inferior alleged 1stGen to patch it. Both copies have a small cut/glitch near end of Rain Song, SBD - sadly only 23 mins of Whole Lotta Love exist for this show. I made a test "matrix" mix with the AUD and it sounded decent so I mixed all 23 min. SBD does have some small dropouts/glitches. Bootledz says all SBD bootleg copies have the glitches. They could not be fixed. Both sources Enhanced with Samplitude. No encores exist for this show. Guess you had to be there to know if they played any.

notes
This is from a 1st generation tape and contains 5:30 of tune-ups before the show. It is the first time I've ever heard such a thing on all the tapes I've heard from this show. Sound quality surpasses any version I've heard from this show as well. I find it somewhat odd that the tune-ups never made it to any of the higher gens. The show itself is rather good and the sound is really not bad at all, except for the fact that it's distant and therefore announcements are not super loud. Sound is VG ... VG+ to an extreme, definitive version. (The Pink List)

notes
This is the best source I could find for the original STEREO broadcast mix of this show. It was likely recorded digitally straight from the broadcast, so it is probably as good as it's gonna get. The bootleggers did a good job of removing excess material at the commercial breaks, so it flows nicely despite being incomplete. This audio mix is very scarce these days, having been replaced by the promo video source, which is unfortunately a basically mono mix. There are also matrixes that use the mono promo vid as their source for the SBD. Hopefully someday, someone will do a matrix that utilizes this stereo source in addition to the missing parts on the promo vid.
