Comment:
Recorded a month after the release of the "Boz Scaggs & Band" LP on Columbia. Very nice performance by Boz and his 8 piece band (at least on the album), including a horn section...
(re:track 4>) ...KSAN and the studio are having some problems so it includes mention of it, a short jam by the band and then Boz' pretty funny intro into "Monkey Time". It appears that there is more to this show based on Boz' comments after Runnin' Blue, but I don't know if anything else was ever aired on the radio.

comments:
First off, forever thanks to The West Side for bringing it out of the shadows! Ah, this is one of my all-time faves!  Probably because my first-ever concert would be this show about a month later, and because Phil was still raw and hungry--the height of Phil-mania was in full swing!
Some notes on the work I did: reduced hiss, brought the sound more to the fore, repaired the hole whilst introducing the strings, smoothed out some transitions (Sussudio/Behind the Lines, for one), upped the levels on the crowd and the banter a bit, gave it a lot of love!  It's a treat for me to hear, and I hope it is for you, too!

Ruis Rockfestival Beat Club & BBC 1971 & 1972 is a Mid Valley budget release featuring the three best sounding documents of the second incarnation of the Jeff Beck Group. This project featured Clive Chaman (bass), Max Middleton (keyboards), Cozy Powell (drums) and Bob Tench on vocals and stood in contrast to the first group. The fun and loose feeling provided by Rod Stewart and Ron Wood was replaced by a tight, professional and diverse group with very interesting material.

This group lasted just about a year and a half and produced only two albums, Rough And Ready and Jeff Beck Group before being disbanded.

Mid Valley present three excellent sounding professionally recorded documents dating from just before the release of Rough And Ready to the BBC appearance a few weeks before the end. All of these tapes have been released before including Going Down To The BBC (Refine Masters) released last year. While the Refine Masters is a great release, Mid Valley is more complete.

It is presented in a fatboy jewel case with EV’s super cheap, stupid and totally unhelpful garbage packaging. The front and back are generic TMoQ artwork with only an insert to describe the contents. I guess they want to bring back the days of vinyl when the LPs were stored in plain white sleeves with only an insert in the plastic, but even at the low price this is offered merits more effort.

The new Jeff Beck Group finished recording Rough And Readyin July, 1971. One of their first live appearances was on August 22nd in the Ruis Rockfestival in Turku, Finland. Five songs from an excellent soundboard recording have been available and were pressed many years ago on Flying High Helsinki 1971 (EVSD 51), one of Empress Valley’s finest efforts. Three songs, “I Got To Have A Song,” I’ve Been Used” and “Situation” are found as filler on Going Down To The BBC (Refine Masters).

WGPSEC describes the intensity of the set, and it starts off with the first song “New Ways / Train Train” which races by. What is apparent in this recording is the key role played by pianist Max Middleton. Throughout the short recording Beck and Middleton playing off one another, like in the “Jody” where they play a call and response game before the short drum solo and the segue into “Ice Cream Cakes.”

Track 102: Increased volume +2dB (from 0:19 mark until end of song)
Tracks 103-112 and Tracks 201-209: Increased volume +2dB

TheCommish notes:
Overall, a very nice-sounding show. The vocals are prominent in the mix, but you'd expect that for two reasons: (1) Three Dog Night is primarily a vocal-based act, and (2) the smaller venue meant the guitars didn't need additional amplification from the soundboard.

Per Wikipedia, Three Dog Night's 1985 spring/summer tour was postponed to allow Chuck Negron time to check into rehab to combat his recurring drug problem. As it turns out, Chuck suffered a relapse during the tour and was fired by the band in December 1985, a month after this show...and that was the last time all three lead vocalists performed together in Three Dog Night.

Description:
In conjunction with Isolar 2's release of the May 18, 1983 show, here is the 19th in similar quality. This was sent to me in low gen form, I believe three times off the master. These shows are historic considering the original Serious Moonlight setlist is featured, which was drastically shortened as the official tour kicked off in Frankfurt 2 days later. The Frankfurt show dropped great songs like 'Joe The Lion', 'Soul Love' which would not stay in the setlist. Others like Look Back In Anger would not re-appear for a couple of months. These shows are a must if you are a Bowie collector of any kind....There are 34 songs but no song 18, making for a 33 song setlist.

4. Mickeyfs Notes:
I was delightedly surprised with Whitesnakefs last show from Japan Tour 2013. Rumor has it Davidfs pipe was complete toast and his singing would get progressively worse, and then the worst would be most likely to be the last show (Osaka). So I was strongly advised to avoid the last gig and to get a ticket for the first or the second to the last show.

To be fair to Coverdale, he was suffering from severe vocal fold edema and a left vocal fold vascular lesion IN THE PAST. I knew that many of loyal Whitesnake fans cried out begging them to throw in the towel at numerous shows IN THE PAST. But that was then, this is now. Some say he fully recovered and has gotten his voice back. So I took a quick look at the latest picture of him on his facebook and wondered gHow the hell he looks so young and hairlycHe looks dumb good to be a pushing 60 year old rocker. So I figured "I should check this band at the most convinienet venue, Orix Theater, Osaka (30mins away from my house). And no matter what, at least I could say I saw his act one last time. Whatever will be will be"

The show was SOLD OUT. Orix Theater Osaka was completely packed with total different age groups from seemingly totally different walk of life. I also saw a couple of 8-10 year old boys and girls with their 30 to 50 something year old parents. The variety of the audience in different age group reflects upon this bandfs long successfully carrier and creation of loyal fans in different generation in Japan.

Just like any other good show, as the show time approached, I could feel the boiling excitement and anticipation forming the good vibe on the floor. When the light was out and the Whofs My Generation announced the opening of the show, Coverdale and his mates sneaked out on the stage in the dark. I could not see much with dimmed lights but Coverdale looked very healthy and fit kitted with the regular; the tour shirt. The opening chords and the thunderous drums of GIVE ME ALL YOUR LOVING TONIGHT blasted through the stacks on the stage. Coverdale moved around and covered the whole stage with the massive energy and finesse of a man half his age. Coverdale was in top form and clearly up for the job. Aldrich and Beach newly added on board, Davidfs voice was sounding full, strong and most of all convincing. Every now and then Coverdale seemed to take a break or rest his voice in the middle of guitar or drum solo during a 90 min show. It was rather short but surely worthy of checking it
Mickey

5. Tapersf & Sound Editorsf Notes:
Recorded from this venuesf only one sweet sound spot with MK4 and Nbox combo. It all turns out to be one of the best recordings this year. The low end might sound a tad thinner than it should be but this is exactly how it sounded that night. Highly recommended for all of Whitesnake fans. Get it quick and crank the volume all the way up!!

Notes

This is a great stereo sbd recording with wonderful small theater ambiance.
Peter forgets the lyrics to solsbury hill and a roadie has to bring out the words for him to read off a paper and the songs restarted. Peter also forgets some lyrics during "I Have The Touch" (from "pull my chin, strock my hair" to "shrug my shoulders, stretch my back"). He also has to wait before starting "The Family And The Fishing Net" because of a problem in the audience between people who want to stand up and people who want to sit down. During "Games Without Frontiers" Peter seems to have a technical problem with his microphone after the first verse. Before starting the second verse we can clearly hear Peter saying "back again, on the air". "Lay Your Hands On Me" has a long intro apparently due to Peter's difficulties to start his vocals (before beginning the first verse he says "take three").
