How do I even begin to describe how great this show was? So great that the moment I got home I bought tickets to tuesday's show in Connecticut. This show was performed on the release date of the new Zombies album "Still Got That Hunger." Go out and buy it!!! (Yeah, right, like there's a record store near you anymore. I guess you'll have to order it online.) I heard it for the first time as I drove to the concert and it is great. I have seen (and recorded ) the current lineup of the Zombies and was very impressed with their performance. They have recorded several excellent albums of new material in the last few years. The first set featured the current touring and recording lineup and included a number of songs from their new album, an Argent track, a Colin Blunstone solo song, and several Zombies classics. They played for an hour and then took a half hour break. That seemed like a long time, but the extremely long bathroom line used up the half hour nicely. Colin Blunstone described set 2 as a celebration of the "48th and a half" anniversary of Odessey and Oracle. The surviving members of the original lineup were brought out. Jim Rodford was relegated to backing vocals and Steve Rodford occasionally appeared on stage to bang a drum but was mostly absent for set 2. From their performance, you would have no inkling that with the exception of a 40th anniversary concert in 2008, this band has not played together in over 40 years. Staggeringly brilliant. Just do yourself a favor and listen. I was literally in tears. The recording came out great. Small, intimate venue with good acoustics; respectful but enthusiastic crowd. woman to my left claps a bit loud, but only between songs, and honestly, who can blame her. I can't wait for Tuesday to see them again!!
