The Rolling Stones - 2014-11-12 - Sydney, AU (AUD/FLAC)

(Audience FLAC)

Allphones Arena

Quality / Lineage:
Minidisc Sony MZ-R35 + Digital Microphone Sony ECM-DS70P, ancient lossy format
Recorded by ztonez
Soundforge - TLH - Flac 8
Ten seats from stage runway on the right.
Disc change between Miss You and Gimme Shelter with a few seconds faded out and in from the music.
I had to minimise one or three involuntary screams when Paint It Black started, when Lisa did her solo bit in Gimme Shelter and after the first riff in Start Me Up.
Otherwise just volume, dynamics, crackle removal and a bit of EQ.
This is a good recording for the equipment but I hope that someone did a perfect 24bit FLAC recording of this show on a hard disc recorder. Please please please.

Great show, my 23rd Stones concert.
They rocked like mere sixty years olds... even though three of them are way past seventy now.
Seriously, the Stones were the greatest rock'n'roll band in the world on that night.
Keith had three songs to give Mick's throat extra time for recovery.
An almost perfect set list. Amazing atmosphere in the arena.
If only Mick Taylor were allowed to play one extra song like Can't You Hear Me Knocking...

setlist (length 75:14):

Both versions are obviously from the same digitalizing as they have exactly the same speed. The bofinken version is soundwise a bit more bassy than the other version but that one has longer cuts at some track startings so I decided to make a matrix out of both to get a more complete recording. A treat was the start and middle section of The Supermen. Both sections are varying between very low and high in level. So I tried to adjust this as much as possible. But still there is a small gap after 43 seconds of this track which I left in. Also I generally lifted the treble a bit and lowered the bass. The result is a more natural sound. Whereas the original is vg I would rate the remaster now as vg+.

Here is the text of the original upload:
This show is one of the most sought after. It was rumored to be around in "certain circles" for quite a long time and only one song was open to a wider public until now: Gotta Get A Job. So I was really excited when I got it in a trade not so long ago. There will follow a remaster which will be uploaded later. The show itself is really great and soundwise it is close to the Kingston Polytechnic from one day earlier. It is a bit annoying that there are cuts between the songs but there always things to complain about. It's simply another great document of the early Ziggy phase with powerful versions of Moonage Daydream (David shouting all his passion out) or Waiting For The Man with a mind-blowing guitar solo of Mick Ronson. Also he performs some tracks only present in the early Ziggy phase like I Feel Free or Gotta Get A Job/Hot Pants. I have attached a really nice cover I found on the Bowiesleeveart web page. Unfortunately no longer publically accessible.

15 - Guitar Solo
16 - D.O.A.
17 - You Really Got Me
18 - Bottoms Up!

Notes: Surprise! With the boys playing Vancouver on the current tour a few of us old school traders thought it would be fun to bust this gem out from the same town 32 years ago.
The sound here is really good, and rivals the Fresno 3-25-79 recording. It starts off a bit rought, but it seems the taper turned his mic toward the stage and the sound gets and stays better from the middle of the first song out. There is small master tape issue on "Running With the Devil" but not too bad.
Enjoy this historic analog recording and let's hope the Vancouver May 7 shows up here soon.
