Another one from the 'dust collection'. Scanned through my list, found this and was mildly surprised that it still works (i've run into a media degradation lately, 2 DVDs stopped working). This is a very nice audience recording as the samples will prove. RIP Glenn Frey. I had to create an .md5, there was only the info file with an .ffp on the text and the tracks. I'm not sure which category to put it in, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Rock n Roll...so i settled on Rock. Enjoy this, i am. So I'm sharing this here, just as i got it back in the day (around 2006 so new lineage is add the following to the lineage in the info: -> transferred to DVD in .flac form -> transferred to internal HDD -> used TLH to combine info, md5 and audio files into a torrent -> Dime -> YOU!) and have changed nothing below this intro. So, without further ado, i present....

Comments:
Excellent recording overall -- great mix, great dynamics, and very courteous audience. You can tell that the show is taking place in a cavernous stadium, but the taper had a good spot relative to the PA. This is a worthwhile download for even a casual fan.

Depending on how Art's recovery progresses, this may be the last sighting of Simon & Garfunkel (other than the one-off New Orleans Jazz Fest show as the sole date of their canceled tour in 2010). Nice setlist, and somewhat different from their world tour of 2003-2004; Art and Paul each take 3 solo songs in the middle of the set; otherwise all Simon & Garfunkel material is the same as on their previous tour.

This recording sounds a little more distant than the 7/10 recording, but has a little fuller sound. It has a different sound, but equally enjoyable.

slumpy's notes - if you don't have this, get it - simple as that - a stunning double-set in astounding quality.
**

I first listened to this release on my main Hi Fi system, which is a pretty good rig. I thought that there was a very powerful bottom end sound, to the slight loss of the top end. I then listened to it through the speakers connected to my computer, and got a totally different impression. There is a better tiop end sound and it was really punchy and powerful. I was very impressed with the quality. Therefore this release may well sound different to people depending on the sound system it is played on. It of course must be compared to the Genuine Masters The Devils Blues that came out a while back, on a DVD-A. The sound on that release is powerful and more natural. This Beelzebub release has been remastered and sounds very punchy and powerful. Some people may prefer the Genuine Masters version, whilst others may prefer the Beelzebub version. As to the concert itself, it is of course a classic, one of the group's very best ever performances. This release has the added bonus of the Alexis Korner 19th March 1969 AM World Service radio broadcast. The sound here is probably as good as it gets, and so this release is very worthwhile. The packaging is in a colour card gatefold, very nicely done, and the CDRs are picture discs. There is a photo of Alexis Korner on the inside cover, and on the CDRs. (Jamie Boswell March 2005)

Just when you think it's safe to say "This is the definitive release of show X" something always pops up to make you think again. The last night at the Fillmore has long been a favourite of just about every fan or collector past and present, and I myself must have 10 different bootleg and non-bootleg versions already. This release basically puts the rest onto the dusty top shelf, even the wonderful Genuine Masters Devils Blues release of last year. Compared side by side I am amazed at the difference - a warmer, more rounded sound, this release breathes more life into an already lively recording. Sourced from an obviously different original tape, this just sounds so much better than the rest, and has been a permanent fixture in my CD player for 2 days solid. I hesitate to say it, but until Mr Page releases an official version, this is now "The definitive release of this show"! The bonus material consists of an AM radio recording of the Alexis Korner radio show session from a few weeks earlier, with a second version of Sunshine Woman from a superior source thrown in for good measure, and the whole package comes in the traditional Beelzebub triple-gatefold card sleeve with printed discs. All in all, a superior sound to any of the previous offerings, and a must-have release. (Captain McCrunge March 06)

Argenteum Astrum :
This show is just blistering. The first set has the group firing on all cylinders and playing their hearts out. The second set is more bluesy and laid back, but that never means less enjoyable. The only live version of Sittin' and Thinkin', a Buddy Guy number, is here and the completely different song list for each set make this a great show to have. Dazed And Confused is really dark here. The group's excitement to be so anticipated by Californian audience found their way in Plant ad-libbed lyrics of I Can't Quit You Baby: "I'm so glad you came tonight ... but I think we're gonna leave this town for a little while ... I don't want to leave you people ... but I think we've got to leave San Francisco for a little while". Also some member of the audience is calling for You Shook Me, what makes a quick and quite funny response from Plant: "Right! Don't worry by that! Just one before that!"
